Chinese national extradited to US in cryptocurrency fraud case

A Chinese national extradited from the Netherlands to the United States has made an initial court appearance and been ordered detained, according to a US Justice Department announcement. He is charged with participating in an international cryptocurrency investment fraud conspiracy.

Authorities allege the scheme operated through scam compounds in Cambodia and involved millions of dollars. Its victims include 174 identified US citizens, according to the announcement.
