Ethereum postpones Hoodi Glamsterdam upgrade; replacement date unset

The Ethereum Foundation said Hoodi’s Glamsterdam activation scheduled for 2026-10-26 has been postponed for further investigation of EIP-8037 interactions with mainnet smart contracts. The planned gas-limit increase to 200M is also removed.

The Ethereum Foundation’s Protocol Cluster said on 2026-10-22 that the Hoodi testnet’s Glamsterdam upgrade, previously scheduled for 2026-10-26, has been postponed. No replacement activation date has been set.

According to the announcement, core developers delayed the upgrade to investigate interactions between EIP-8037 and mainnet smart contracts. The revised configuration removes the scheduled Amsterdam execution-layer and Gloas consensus-layer activations, along with the gas-limit increase to 200M.

The Foundation said the change rolls back a future upgrade configuration without reverting Hoodi’s chain history. Its postponement notice supersedes the earlier announcement’s schedule and activation instructions; the earlier client release tables do not confirm support for the postponement.

The announcement concerns Hoodi and does not set a Glamsterdam mainnet activation date. The Foundation said no action is required from Ethereum mainnet users or ETH holders as a result of this update.
